B2B Buyer FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything international buyers need to know about sourcing tea, teaware, compliance, and logistics from Sun Time Tea.

Are you a direct tea manufacturer or a trading company? How do you guarantee the origin traceability of your loose-leaf tea?

Sun Time Tea is a B2B exporter of Chinese origin loose-leaf tea. We source directly from gardens in Fujian, Yunnan, and Zhejiang — no extra trading layer between the lot and the export documents. Each shipment can include a certificate of origin, batch testing, and garden location data.

What does the path look like from a first sample to a first wholesale order?

Request a 5 kg sample of a named lot, cup it, then ask for a quote on the volume you actually need. We typically reply within 24 hours with availability, grade notes, and shipping options. A first commercial order follows only after you approve the sample — we do not ask you to skip that step.

What are your Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) requirements for loose-leaf tea?

Sample orders start at 5 kg. Once you approve a lot, we can supply larger wholesale quantities. Full-container loads are available when your volume requires them — they are a later step, not the starting point.

If we switch suppliers, can you precisely match the flavor profile of our current tea based on a physical sample?

Yes. Our sourcing team can work from a physical sample you mail us. We cup it against origin, cultivar, harvest, and processing, then propose a matching lot so your existing customers are not asked to accept a different tea without warning.

How do you describe tea grades, and can we see how a lot was evaluated?

Each lot is sold with a named grade and the facts that sit behind it: cultivar, harvest window, leaf standard, and origin. Spec sheets carry those fields as discrete data — not a paragraph of marketing — so you can compare lots the same way we do.

How much do harvest season and year change the tea, and will next year’s lot taste the same?

Season and year matter. A pre-Qingming green is not interchangeable with a later pick of the same cultivar; a 2026 lot is not automatically a clone of 2025. We identify harvest window and year on the lot. When a season is short, we say so rather than substituting a quieter pick under the same name.

How do you ensure your tea exports comply with strict EU and US food safety standards and pesticide limits?

Lots destined for the EU or US are managed against those markets’ food-safety expectations. Relevant tests are run before export. Buyers commonly commission their own lab check on arrival against local Maximum Residue Levels (MRLs).

How can wholesale buyers verify organic tea documentation, such as USDA Organic?

Organic and USDA Organic apply only to lots that carry those documents — not to the whole catalog. Where a lot is certified, we share the origin paperwork before shipment. Buyers should still check the certificate against their market’s organic database on arrival.

How should loose-leaf tea be stored after it leaves China, and how long will a lot stay fresh?

Keep tea cool, dry, dark, and away from odors. Export lots ship in food-grade multi-layer aluminum foil bags inside export cartons. Once opened, move the leaf into an airtight, opaque container and do not store it next to spices or cleaning chemicals.

Can you ship sample and small wholesale lots, or only full containers? How are small orders packed?

Yes. 5 kg samples and small wholesale lots ship as parcels or as less-than-container (LCL) cargo. Leaf is packed in food-grade multi-layer aluminum foil bags, then export cartons. FOB, CIF, and door-to-door options depend on destination and volume.

What standard export and customs clearance documents do you provide for international shipments?

Our logistics team provides a complete set of ICC-standard clearance documents. This typically includes the Commercial Invoice, detailed Packing List, Certificate of Origin, Bill of Lading or Airway Bill, and the essential Phytosanitary Certificate to support smooth customs entry procedures in your destination market.

What is your return and refund policy for goods damaged in transit or held by destination customs?

We follow standard international B2B terms. If goods sustain physical damage due to logistics, buyers must provide photographic evidence within 5 business days for a prorated refund or replacement. However, losses from destination-specific customs bans or import restrictions are the buyer's responsibility. We do not accept returns based on subjective taste preferences.
